When purchasing a product from via the BCS Online Bookshop (shop.bcs.org) your contract will be with our distributors, NBN International.

Customer information for ordering online

When you buy books via the BCS Online Bookshop, you will need to provide your customer information to NBN International in order for them to process and despatch your order.

NBN International information will appear on your receipt and credit card statements.

All customer information collected and used for the processing and despatching of orders through the BCS Online Bookshop are covered by the NBN International (Ingram) Privacy Policy, which is available here: https://www.ingramcontent.com/about/privacy-policy

Is the password for signing in the same as for the BCS website?

No. The passwords are completely different. The password for the BCS website allows you to access the BCS Member Area (MyBCS).

For the BCS Online Bookshop you need a separate password which you set up when you register as a new customer.

Please note your sign in information is not stored at BCS so you need to make sure you use a relevant reminder for your password, otherwise you will need to re-register as a new customer.

Ordering

When searching for book titles by ISBN code, the reference is not recognised?

You can only search for books that are listed on the BCS Online Bookshop which are published or licenced for distribution by BCS Learning and Development Ltd.

When entering the ISBN codes do not include hyphens - for example: use 9781780172774 to search for Business Analysis and not 978-1-780172-77-4.

What is the cost for postage and packaging?

Postage and packing charges will be confirmed at the point of transaction.

For UK, Europe or USA orders, BCS members using their BCS membership discount or other customers using the pre-publication discount (or another appropriate discount code) will receive free P&P.

Otherwise:

-              customers in the UK will usually be charged £4.00 for the first print book, then £1 per subsequent print title up to maximum of £10.00.

-              customers in Europe, USA or the Rest of the World charges depend on the weight / final destination and a quote can be obtained from NBNI customer services to this end.

Prices will be charged in your chosen currency at current exchange rates and added to your basket prior to final order confirmation.

Can I pay using a different currency?

If you wish to pay in an alternative currency to UK pounds sterling (e.g. Euros or US dollars), please contact the NBN International Customer Service team by email on cservs@nbninternational.com or call +44 (0)1752 202301.

When do you take the payment from my credit/debit card?

You will be charged for your order when the item(s) are ready for despatch.

Can I arrange to pay later?

When you order a book in advance of publication (pre-order) you will only be charged when it becomes available for despatch to you. Otherwise, all payments will be taken when your order is ready to send to you. We do not offer a payment on receipt or advance invoice service for individual customers.

How can I get a receipt?

Your order generates a receipt or invoice which is sent to the billing details provided when placing your order.

Can I buy your books from a bookshop?

BCS books are made available to all high street bookshops and major online retailers. If the title you are looking for is not held in stock, they will be able to order this for you.

Can I order a book that’s not in the BCS Online Bookshop?

No. You can pre-order forthcoming titles only when they appear in the BCS Online Bookshop. If the BCS book you require is not listed please contact the NBN International Customer Service team by email on cservs@nbninternational.com or call +44 (0)1752 202301.

What if the order does not arrive?

Please contact the NBN International Customer Service team by email on cservs@nbninternational.com or call +44 (0)1752 202301 and they will check the status of your order. If necessary a replacement order will be arranged to be despatched to you.

Why has only part of my order arrived?

If you have ordered an item that is not currently in stock or is not yet available, we will only despatch the part of your order that is available. The remainder of your order will be sent to you separately without any additional shipping costs to you. You will only be charged for items that are despatched.

My order has arrived damaged, what can I do?

You must notify us of damaged orders within seven working days of the day after the item is delivered (excluding digital items). Please contact the NBN International Customer Service team by email on cservs@nbninternational.com or call +44 (0)1752 202301 as a matter of priority.

We will investigate the matter and ask you to return the damaged order to NBN International with a covering letter within 30 days of receipt. We will arrange a replacement order at no cost to you and with a full refund of any incurred postage costs.

How can I change my order?

Please contact the NBN International Customer Service team by email on cservs@nbninternational.com or call +44 (0)1752 202301. Providing the order has not yet been despatched we will do our best to cater for any change to the current order.

How do I cancel an order?

If you are a UK consumer and have not legally accepted the goods, you have the right to cancel your order under The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To cancel your order and obtain a full refund you must contact the NBN International Customer Service team by email on cservs@nbninternational.com or call +44 (0)1752 202301 within fourteen days of your purchase.

If your order has already been despatched, please contact us to let us know you wish to cancel your order within the fourteen day period. When you receive the order, please package the item securely and send it to us within 30 days of receipt.

You must include the original delivery note with your returned item(s). We recommend for your protection that you use a recorded delivery service if the value of the item(s) is more than 50 GBP. Unless the item was delivered to you in error or the item is damaged, you will be responsible for returning the items to us.

If I don’t like the book, can I send it back?

By law, customers in the European Union have the right to withdraw from the purchase of an item within seven working days of the day after the item is delivered. This applies to all our products except for digital items (e.g. eBooks).

Special offers and discounts

Where do I enter promotional codes to get discounts or special offers?

Please enter any promotional codes (including BCS membership number, if applicable) at the shopping basket stage of the order process when using the BCS Online Bookshop.

I’ve just joined BCS, how do I get my membership discount?

Your BCS membership discount will be activated within a week of joining BCS. You will need to revisit the BCS Online Bookshop and sign in with the membership number provided to you in your welcome email or pack.

What is the BCS membership discount?

This discount is a special offer available only to BCS members and is currently 25%. This discount applies to most books available in the BCS Online Bookshop and also offers BCS members free delivery in the UK, Europe or USA. Please note that this discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other special offers.

Can I combine a BCS membership discount with other the special offers?

No. The membership discount is separate to any other special offers. When you apply a discount code or membership discount to a purchase at the shopping basket, you will automatically receive the best offer price if you enter the correct discount codes applicable.

Why did I not receive the membership discount?

If you have only recently joined BCS your membership discount may not have been activated. If this is the case, please try again within a week.

If you have entered an incorrect membership number you will not receive the discount.

Delivery and returns

How long does delivery take?

Your order will be despatched from our distribution centres within seven working days from receipt of your order. For orders placed outside of Europe and North America please allow 14-28 days for delivery.

Orders are distributed by NBN International (see below for details). Their details will appear on your receipt and credit card statements.

What happens if my order is not yet available?

In cases where some of your chosen books are immediately available and some have to be shipped later, there will be NO extra shipping charge. We will only charge your payment card for these books when they are available for despatch.

What if I’m not satisfied with my purchase?

If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your purchase you must notify us within seven working days of the day after the item is delivered (excluding digital items). You must then return the book(s) to NBN International (see below for details) with a covering letter within 30 days of receipt and we will replace them or give a full refund.

We will not refund the cost of your expenditure in returning the item to us and other services provided to you in connection with your purchase unless you return the item to us because of an error on our part or because it is defective.

Refunds will be made using the method by which your order was paid. Credit/debit card refunds will be processed on the day of request, although it may take 3-5 working days for this to appear on your statement. Refunds by cheque will take longer to process.

Does the delivery note include price information?

Every order generates a receipt or invoice and depending on the invoice/despatch details one of the following would happen:

  • If the invoice and despatch address is the same the invoice goes in the parcel with the goods
  • If the invoice and despatch address is different, only the packing note goes in with the goods and the invoice is sent separately in the post

Can I choose a delivery address that is different to the billing address?

Yes you can. Billing and delivery address details are requested separately during the ordering process via the BCS Online Bookshop.

If I return any orders, do you refund the postage costs?

Where you have received an order due to an error on our part or the order is damaged or defective, we will refund the cost of your expenditure in returning the item to us and other services provided to you in connection with your purchase. Otherwise, you are responsible for any costs for returning the item(s) to us.

Do you sell ebooks?

Yes. All our books are available in pdf, ePub and Kindle formats.

Electronic versions of our books are currently available to purchase through the BCS Online Bookshop in pdf and ePub formats only.

Other ebook suppliers also sell BCS ebooks.

 

What is your ebook-only series about?

We have a selection of ebook-only publications. These are specially curated collections of topical and accessible articles and blog posts by industry experts. Topics include BYOD, Cloud Computing, Mobile Computing and Green IT.

What should I do if there is a problem downloading your ebooks?

Please contact the ebook supplier from whom you purchased the ebook.
